Estate Planning Made Easy

During Covid19, I am scheduling all meetings virtually. This includes final review of estate planning documents. Rather than meet to sign in my office, I will provide you with executable documents and easy to follow signing instructions. Please read below for more information.

Covid19 Policy

Initial Consultation

I offer a initial consultation at no cost to discuss your needs and goals. I will answer any questions. If we both determine that we are a good fit, you sign a client engagement letter and we enter into an attorney client relationship. During Covid19, this meeting will take place via video conference.

Estate Planning Questionnaires

In order to make the best use of your time at the consultation, I will provide you with two estate planning questionnaires to fill out and return in advance of the consultation. The questionnaires tell me about your family and other beneficiaries; your property and assets; and your goals with respect to estate planning. During the consultation, we’ll go through the forms together. I’ll answer your questions. Typically, I can make concrete recommendations about the structure of your estate plan.

Draft Estate Plan

For most estate plans, I will provide a draft of the plan for review approximately three weeks after the consultation.

We will meet again by video conference to review your draft estate plan. This meeting takes about one hour for a will-based plan and about two hours for a trust-based plan. We’ll take a walk through the documents together to make sure that you understand the plan and I’ve accurately captured your wishes.

Document Review

For most estate plans during Covid19, I am providing my clients with final documents and easy to follow signing instructions. I am available to facilitate the signing by video conference if desired. Clients are responsible for arranging two qualified witnesses to be physically present (not virtually) during the document signing.

Document Execution

If you have elected a trust based estate plan, it’s time to fund your revocable living trust. I will help you move your real property and tangible personal property into the trust and provide instructions for directing your financial accounts to the trust.
